We are thrilled to be launching an exclusive edition of outstanding pieces by Byron & Gómez, two furniture designer-makers of exceptional talent.
The Penumbra Sideboard, the Round-about Table and their gem-like jewellery boxes demonstrate their skills of the highest standards of craftsmanship and are now available exclusively through the Foster & Gane website or to view by appointment.
Byron & Gómez are a partnership of furniture designer-makers. They find inspiration through craft itself: the processes and techniques of making, and the results that can be achieved through combining the traditional and the modern. It is their intention that everything they make will long outlast all of us; achieving sustainability though longevity. Their work is contemporary in style, favoring clean lines and unadorned surfaces to create pieces that are bold yet understated. They draw upon their own experiences as creative individuals with different aesthetic values and cultural backgrounds and share an inquisitive streak that drives them to experiment with new materials and techniques.
Charles Byron grew up in the New Forest, England, and has always loved making things out of wood. He finds huge satisfaction from seeing an idea transform into an object that one can see and touch. Having studied in traditional cabinetmaking at Williams & Cleal Furniture School Charles is now putting his skills to use creating unique contemporary furniture.
María del Mar Gómez grew up in Puerto Rico and was passionate about making and designing from a young age. An innate desire to understand how the objects that surround us are made led her to study architecture at the University of Puerto Rico. Upon graduating she travelled to England to learn the craft of furniture making at Williams & Cleal. It was here that she developed the necessary skills to make pieces of furniture that are held to the highest standards of craftsmanship.
