Finland, circa 1950s

Tynell trained in Helsinki, setting up Taito in 1918, where he collaborated with leading designers such as Alvar Aalto. His lamps were known for their elegant use of brass and perforation and sold in Finland and the United States, where he designed the lighting for the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
