Designed for Nymölle. Denmark, circa 1960s
Nyland studied architecture in Copenhagen but diversified into ceramics, using skills taught him in his ceramicist parents' studio. He established his own studio, working in Sweden and Denmark, notably in a partnership with Rorstrand, where he was artistic director.
Combining chamotte, a raw clay, and modelling clay, he was able to create stoneware in matte glazes with thinner, more delicate shapes.
His work is in collections worldwide.
