A tall art pottery vase with a sgraffito brown glaze and incised grid decoration.

Designed for Upsala Ekeby. Sweden, circa 1950s.

Born in St Petersburg, Simmulson studied in Estonia and then in Finland as a Research Fellow before studying sculpture in Tallinn. She fled to Sweden in 1944 as a refugee, working first for Gustavsberg and then Uppsala Ekeby.

Simmulson exhibited in Sweden, Latvia and Estonia as well as the Milan Triennale, Italy. Her work is in international collections, including the V&A Museum, London.
