The rectangular mercury glass plate set into a scrolling hot-sand marquetry frame with an ebonised fillet surmounted by a crest decorated in marquetry with floral motifs.

Thomas Hache was born in 1664 in Grenoble, and studied Italian decoration in Chambery. Hache was articled to Michel Chevalier. From 1721 onwards, he designed furniture for the Duchess of Orleans.
