The rectangular plate set into a cherrywood and burr elm frame finely carved with flowers and leaves overflowing from a central fluted vase.

Jallot was a leading designer of the French Art Nouveau movement, primarily as an eboniste and cabinet maker. He trained at the prestigious Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, using his technical skills in sculpture and wood engraving to inform his fluid designs.
