Of rectangular form with a pierced hinged top above an open frieze with a series of circles over a solid patinated steel front with a central reserve pierced with stylised flame motifs. The top with canted sides and hinged for access to the radiator hiding beneath it - the right hand corner deliberately curled up for a finger to pull at. With open sides.

Brandt established his Paris workshop in 1901. Commissions flooded in, including the door of the French Embassy in Brussels and the Louvre's Escalier Mollien.

He was known for combining motifs from ancient Egypt and classical Greek sources, his designs becoming synonymous with the most lavish and exquisite work of the time. His workshop produced such things as lighting, grilles, firescreens, consoles, doors, tables, andirons and vessels, as well as architecture and stylish entrances for fashionable Parisian buildings, with prestigious clients around the world.
