Lord trained at Heatherley's School of Art, Chelsea, and exhibited extensively, including at the Royal Academy and the Paris Salon, where she won a Silver Medal. She was elected a full member of the prestigious Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in 1922. An eminent painter and printmaker, with a unique dreamlike style, her work is the subject of the monograph Masters of the Colour Print: Elyse Lord.
