The triangular rush seat on three red-stained turned supports, the back with a horizontal rest.
The Kerkstoel, meaning church seat, was designed in 1960 for the Restored Reformed Church (Gereformeerde Gemeente) in Nieuwkoop, Netherlands.
Influenced greatly by the De Stijl and Modernist movements, Wim den Boon's simple yet functional style lent itself perfectly to the brief of designing a chair for the austere interiors of a church.
Netherlands, circa 1960
