Beldy was the daughter of a famous artist (friend of Rex Whistler) and married author Somerset Maugham's brother, living with him in Paris. Her sister-in-law was interior designer Syrie Maugham. Famed for her extraordinary pictures using contrasting textiles and embroidery, Beldy exhibited internationally.
